.pdf Files

Files with a suffix ending in .pdf are generally created by scanners.   The .pdf stands for “Portable Document Format”.  This file format was developed by Adobe and was made popular by the fact that Adobe made its Adobe Reader a free download so that anyone could open and read a .pdf file.  To create a .pdf file requires a program like Adobe Acrobat.
